This small two cup teapot was scored with a toothed tool when a straight cylinder it was then bellied out, producing the twisting lines. A nice way to decorate because the decoration is integral to the pot.
The glaze is a metallic ash glaze fired to cone 6 in an electric kiln. I applied the glaze then wiped it with a sponge. I didn't want the decoration to be obliterated by the glaze. I like the way the teapot looks like it could be some kind of iron or metal.
